Getting Started - Your Step By Step Guide To Organising a Successful Night
Having read all the previous information, by now you will be fully aware of how profitable a race night can be. Now we will focus on the several different ways of making money, prior to the event and on the night.
Before the Night:
- Horse Owners / Jockeys / Trainers
We will provide you with 9 races that can be sold prior to the race night. Within each race, there are 8 Owners, 8 Jockeys and 8 Trainers available. Usually, these would be sold for approximately €10 each, therefore generating €240 per race. The winning Owner, Jockey and Trainer should receive a small spot prize which can be provided by some of the local businesses or your club / organisation.
Please be aware that you are not only limited to 9 races with our packages. You can sell as many races as you like and we would like to see you fill them all! The more you sell – the more money you will raise.
- Race Sponsorship - Each race on the night should have a sponsor and clients normally charge €125 for these placements. Whoever sponsors a race usually decides on the name of the race, and most companies would opt for their business name within the title, for example – ‘Framing Marvellous Photo Finish Sprint’.
If you can also get a local business to sponsor The Main Event, we will guarantee them maximum publicity whereby they will be placed on the back page of the race card along with the front cover. Our MC will also provide that business with massive publicity on the night.
- Advertising - We will provide you with Advertising Forms on the night and these will also provide the option for local business to appear within the race card. You can charge whatever price you want for these full page adverts that will appear throughout the race card.
Regarding the content of each advert, the advertiser can provide business cards, letterheads, logos, flyers or even simply write down the text they would like to appear on their advert. All adverts will be produced in full colour, high gloss quality by our professional graphic design team.

On the Night:
On the night of your fundraising event, our expert will be on offer to help you run your Tote Betting, Raffle and Auction Race. Our professional MC’s / Tote Bookmakers are supplied in all of our packages at no extra cost! This is always of great benefit as it takes the pressure off the busy committee members.
- Tote Betting - The Tote operates on the night just like a real life tote at a racetrack. Each race will have different colour tickets for horses 1 to 8 and at the end of each race our MC will calculate the odds. You will receive 50% of the total betting money on the night. Bets would usually cost an average of €2.
- Auction Race - The Auction Race is the last race of the evening and this race is always sold on the night. There are 8 horses in this race and all guests are encouraged to form syndicates and then make bids for the available horses of each race.
It works like this: The prices that the horses are sold for are added up and divided by 2. You keep 50% for your funds and the remaining 50% will go to the winning individual or syndicate. For example: If your total amount is €500, then you keep €250 and the remaining €250 goes to the winner!
- Raffle - You also have the option of running a raffle on the night and if you choose to do this, there is just the simple matter of collecting some spot prizes to give away. It’s also another great way to raise that bit extra.
